Truth Justice Freedom Love

We are a paradox
we ask and fight for things
we can never get
we run from things
we say we want

Give us Truth,
we say
Honesty. Don't lie to me
but Truth is in the eye
of the beholder

Justice!
we cry
but Justice is blind
because we can never see
into the hearts of men

Freedom,
we beg
it is an illusion
for if we are not captives of each other
we make captives of ourselves

Love?
that most slippery slope
we destroy that
which we need the most
and forever doesn't last

We are a paradox
endlessly seeking the impossible
Truth! Justice! Freedom! Love!
forever chasing the horizon
Is that not what it is to be human?
